Heartsaver CPR AED Course Description

American Heart Association Certification – 2-Year Validity

Safeguard CPR’s Heartsaver CPR AED Course is designed for anyone with little or no medical training who wants to be prepared to respond in an emergency. This hands-on class teaches high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants, as well as how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Perfect for workplace safety teams, teachers, coaches, childcare providers, fitness staff, and anyone who wants to learn how to save a life.

Course Includes:

  • Adult, child, and infant CPR

  • AED use and safety

  • Relief of choking

  • Scene safety and emergency response steps

  • AHA-certified instructor-led training

  • Same-day digital certification (valid for 2 years)

🕒 Course Duration: Approximately 2–3 hours

Heartsaver CPR AED  Requirements

  • Age Requirement

  • Participants must be at least 12 years old (younger students may be accepted with guardian approval).

  • Registration & Payment

  • Advance registration is required.

  • Full payment must be made prior to class to confirm your spot.

  • Identification

  • Bring a valid photo ID (for issuing your AHA certification card).

  • Clothing & Participation

  • Wear comfortable clothing suitable for floor-based CPR practice.

  • You must be able to kneel, bend, and perform chest compressions on a manikin.

  • Course Completion

  • You must attend the full session and actively participate in all skills practice.

  • Successfully complete the skills assessment with an instructor.

  • Manual (Optional but Recommended)

  • The Heartsaver CPR AED Student Workbook is available for purchase or download.

  • Optional but helpful for review and certification record-keeping.

  • Technology Access (if hybrid/online option is offered)

  • If taking a blended course, you must complete the online portion and bring the certificate of completion to your skills session.

Heartsaver CPR AED Course Estimated Time

Times are based on a recommended ratio of 6 students to 1 Instructor to 1 manikin. Heartsaver CPR AED Course 1-2 hours without breaks​ ​Successful completion is based on achievement of the core learning objectives rather than a prescribed instruction time.

Heartsaver CPR AED Card

Heartsaver CPR AED is a credentialed course. Providers who successfully complete the Heartsaver CPR AED course receive a course completion card valid for two years.
